If so, I remember it well, and the mindless braying schadenfreude from my compatriots at how "morally disgraceful the neighbouring nation has become." With my 43 years of experience in life, my best advice for Christine would be just to "live." With enough time and lived experiences, the traumas of the past recede further into distance, and it feels more and more like they happened to a different person entirely.
