From my perspective, it feels a bit insane that many Americans feel they can’t retire (or semi-retire). I feel more Americans could consider retiring outside the USA - being American there are a plethora of choices of places where they can stretch their Social Security check.

Yes, I understand some can’t move for chronic health or family issues. But I feel many Americans also dismiss retiring overseas too readily, assuming they’d have to endure living in poor conditions they wouldn’t experience if they stayed back in the US. But this isn’t the case - practically all the American retirees I’ve met in my home country of Malaysia report far better quality of life than if they’d stayed back home.
