Hi Angela, I thought the Fitbit was a great device for establishing the "10,000-steps a day" habit at first. It helped me to establish a baseline activity, figure out what a 10,000-step a day habit felt like, and then keep track of it once I got there. Once I became used to it, I didn't see the point of using a Fitbit any longer. :)
More serious runners might like the heart rate monitor function on some of the models but I think people who were serious enough to worry about heart rate tracking tended to buy dedicated heart rate monitors, like the ones made by Polar or Garmin.
