I love this comment because it highlights one of the problems with how "desire" is translated.

Buddhism differentiates between tanha, which is a desire towards a feeling, e.g. the desire for a pleasurable taste or a beautiful object, and chanda. Or, as in the link below, it "leads to seeking of objects which pander to self interests and is supported and nourished by ignorance."

Meanwhile, chanda is desire for something beneficial, e.g. the desire to become a better writer, which leads to effort and action -> practising writing.
