I've lived in Malaysia most of my life, so I've heard most of the things Malaysians say behind foreigners' backs. Some of it is pretty shocking!

Also, in Bali, i got into a taxi some years ago and the friendly driver asked where I was from. I told him I was "from Singapore", and he said, "Good, at least you aren't from Jakarta!" The whole ride he was talking about how horrible Jakartans and the Javanese were, how they forced the Balinese to live under their yoke, and how he'd murder one of them if he had the opportunity! That was frankly very shocking and made me realise that the harmony that Bali tries to project can be skin-deep...
