This part rings oh so true for me. I've been making a living from writing for many years now, but the sort of writing I've been doing has been dry and informative. Like this:

The government’s price control list for essential medicines has expanded considerably over the decades, from just 74 drugs in 1995 to 860 medications by 2019. These measures have had unintended negative consequences. For instance, some domestic pharmaceuticals producers have opted to go out of production when their products have been placed on the price control list, creating an opening for substandard drug manufacturers to enter the market.

Not an inspiration for any one by any means, eh?

Medium opened my eyes to the importance of style, not just the endless summarising and regurgitating of facts. I didn't think I could do it but, nearly 100 articles after my very first one, I'm still a little pleased with myself that some of my writing resonated with some people!

Medium also made me seriously think myself as a writer, rather than a consultant who uses words to sell industrial content. And that's opening my mind to other possible ventures and projects.

And for all this, I will probably never abandon Medium, even though I sometimes scream at frustration at the changes they push through. :)
