Yeah, Tessa, you know, this is what really surprised me about Thailand! I sort of expected Thailand to be similar to Malaysia, as in it'd be as cashless as Malaysia is.

Turns out going cashless in Thailand is different than in Malaysia. It's common enough for Thais to scan the PromptPay QR code and pay through their bank accounts, but less common to use debit/credit cards (unless you're spending more than THB 500 per transaction). It's the other way round in Malaysia - we tap our debit/credit cards for so many transactions while DuitNow (the Malaysian PromptPay) hasn't really taken off.
